Cecil McCormic

CECIL MCCORMICK left his humble life of service, immediately into the arms of his Savior, on Saturday, October 23, 2021. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Hodges Baptist Church. Burial will be in Hawley Cemetery, directed by Adams-Graham Funeral Home. Family visitation will be 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Adams-Graham Funeral Home in Anson.

Born July 5, 1935, in Roby, Cecil was a son of the late Clifton Price and Nadine (Woodson) McCormick. He lived with his grandparents much of his early life. As he grew to be a teenager, he learned to operate heavy machinery. By the age of 16 he was building roads to help support his family. He married Lucille Eakins September 18, 1954. They had five children. Lucille passed away August 28, 2009. Cecil married Susie Tyson in 2010. He worked for Texas Department of Transportation for 33 years retiring in 1993. Many of the roads in Taylor and surrounding counties were roads he helped to build, whether with heavy equipment or inspections by taking nuclear core samples. Cecil built his home with his own hands in the early 2000’s. After retirement, he traveled with Campers on Mission, doing volunteer labor at Baptist Camps and churches in Texas. He later came to enjoy Cowboy Action Shooting. He was a member of the Butterfield Trail Regulators. Cecil enjoyed life and was always working around his home or in service to others.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; his late wife (Lucille); one son; one daughter; four grandsons; one granddaughter and two great-grandsons.

Survivors include his wife, Susie McCormick; one son, Greg McCormick (and wife, Myra); two daughters, Cathy Wittie and Tracey Rose (and husband, Charlie); two stepsons, Tommie Tyson and Todd Tyson; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great great-granddaughter.
