Johnny Sellers
Johnny Sellers passed away December 23,2021.
Johnny was born on May 30, 1945, in Abilene Texas to Willard (Shorty) Sellers and Mary Lucille Sellers. Johnny attended Hawley ISD and became a well-known basketball player during his high school career. Johnny was known for his quick ball handling skills, and lightening passes. Following graduation, Johnny pursued his basketball interests at various colleges around the state. He made some lifelong friends and career memories at CISCO Junior College, where at the time they were 3rd in the Nation. He went on to coach at Putnam ISDthen upon the death of his father, Johnny entered the family farming business and remained a farmer throughout his working life.
Johnny married Eva Idale Mize on November 26, 1973. This past November, Johnny and Eva celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary.
Johnny was preceded in death by both of his parents, Shorty and Lucille Sellers. He is survived by his wife, Eva Sellers, daughter Misty Reagor and husband Nathan of Hawley, daughter Mindy Shadden and husband Chad of Abernathy, 4 sisters, Jan Dennis, Brenda Wyatt, Billie Sue McDonald, and Patsy Atkinson, along with many nieces and nephews. Johnny also had a longtime friend that he called his brother, Mr. Ronnie Horrell of Abilene, TX. Their friendship remained one of a kind.
Johnny has 5 grandchildren: Kyle Sellers, Kelby Mauldin, Jailey Branton, Cheyann Shadden and Scarlett Shadden. He also has 3 great grandchildren: Jaxon Sellers, Gabriel Branton, and Sawyer Branton. Papa Johnny always greeted hisgrandchildren with grace and love, and usually with some sporting advice and most of the time a little piece of candy! Johnny is loved and cared for by many other relatives and friends from his longtime hometown of Hawley, TX and will be missed by a great many.
A come and go celebration of life for John Willard Sellers, 76, of Hawley Texas, will be held at the home of Misty and Nathan Reagor located at 10231 County Road 379 Hawley Texas, 79525 on Monday December 27th from 1-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Hawley Athletic Department P.O. Box 148, Hawley Texas 79525. Johnny always wanted every kid to have an opportunity to play sports! Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Adams-Graham Funeral Home of Anson.
