Lunsford Skaggs

LUNSFORD “JAY” SKAGGS, 97, died Friday, December 24, 2021, at his home in Anson. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Bethel Assembly Church. Burial will be in Hawley Cemetery, directed by Adams-Graham Funeral Home.

Born February 29, 1924 in Jones County, Jay was a son of the late Lester and Georgia (White) Skaggs. He married Ester Marie Mullins November 4, 1953 in Stamford. He was in the paving business and was a longtime faithful member of Bethel Assembly Church.

Jay was preceded in death by three brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Skaggs of Anson; one daughter, Valynda Brooks Gonzales of Abilene; one son, Douglas Skaggs (and wife, Helen) of Miami, FL; four granddaughters, Lasha Brooks, Jennifer Skaggs, Kimberley Skaggs and Valerie Skaggs; and four great-grandchildren, Christopher, Kaia, J. T. and Conner.
