Jones County Appraisal District to Host Town Hall on Agricultural Valuation Changes

June 06, 2026

The Jones County Appraisal District is inviting agricultural property owners to attend an upcoming town hall meeting to discuss significant changes affecting Agricultural Special Valuations.

According to a notice released by the appraisal district, the meeting will be held at 1 p.m. on June 17 in the Jones County Sheriff's Office Training Room, located at 402 2nd Street in Anson.

Appraisal district officials said the purpose of the meeting is to address what they described as "drastic changes" in Agricultural Special Valuations and to provide information to landowners who may be impacted.

Agricultural valuations, commonly referred to as ag exemptions, allow qualifying agricultural properties to be taxed based on their agricultural productivity rather than market value. Changes to valuation methods, qualification requirements, or state guidelines can have a significant effect on landowners and agricultural producers.

The town hall meeting will provide an opportunity for property owners to learn more about the changes, ask questions and hear directly from appraisal district representatives.

The Jones County Appraisal District is encouraging agricultural property owners and other interested residents to attend the meeting and stay informed about the potential impact of the changes.

For additional information, residents may contact the Jones County Appraisal District at (325) 823-2422 or visit www.jonescad.org.
